Last day with Project EGD

All I can say is "Ang bilis bilis ng araw." So here I am with yet another 'crikey? haha!! My last day with Enbridge-FO. I knew it was coming, and yet, it’s hit me harder emotionally than I thought it would. For a year, I’m with this team. I’ve faced challenges. Learned a lot about myself and self-taught so much for my job. I’ve grown. Changed. Made friends. Had fun. Struggled. Been frustrated. Succeeded. Tried new things. Did something different.

Leaving is certainly hard for me.

On Monday I will start something different, in a new life.
Transitioning. I always feel awful on one side and excited on the other. I’m leaving people and things behind. Some good, some bad,  it may have been a roller coaster ride but I would not have it any other way. I will definitely take with me wonderful memories and all part of who I am, who I’ve become and my life specially those which made me a better person.

I feel very fortunate to have worked with such wonderful people.

Cinemalaya 2014

It's that time of the year again. Cinemalaya, our most-awaited and most celebrated annual independent film festival. The event I cannot not afford to miss.

So for this year we only gotten to watch Short Films B, most tickets were sold out. We wanted to watch other films to have a point of comparison, but, unfortunately, it simply didn't happen.

Lola - is a thriller set during Christmas season and revolves around a grandmother’s quiet afternoon that turns deadly when an unexpected visitor drops by. This gave me an inexplicable feelings I can't tell you whether I liked or hated it. This film, I've found, was merely ok I wouldn't have guessed the backdrop of the story at all. It was dark, I think, if we are to speak in colors.

Indayog ng Nayatamak - is a film about a painter and his struggle in his artwork. It is a visual representation of inequality, a word that encompasses many facets of society. Let's not dwell on this because there's nothing to chew on.

Nakakabinging Kadiliman  -  about two siblings whose lives haven’t been the easiest—one is blind while the other is deaf-mute. The two sisters, who rely greatly on one another, are called to endure some changes when a handsome neighbor moves in. It has a very much simple story yet heartfelt. In reality, the simpler a story, the more likely it gets appreciated.

Eyeball - A vain man is out to meet a woman he met on Facebook for the first time. While waiting for her, he comes upon a naive guy whom he teaches his ways on attracting women. But the vain may need to learn some more.  See, it starts out as straight comedy, with antagonist and protagonist talking in a small eatery. The comedy continues throughout, until the ending was tragic. It’s only after the film has finished that you start to appreciate that the darkness of the film really is present from the beginning. It’s like someone throws jokes at you so that you don’t realize that you’re watching a tragedy until the final act. I did like this.

Ina-tay - A beautician named Elvis (also known as Elvira) finds out one day that he has fathered a bouncing baby boy and is left with the challenge of single parenthood. The storyline  is far too common. The opening shots will make you smirk, but everything afterward is hilariously awful.

EGD Year End Party

I attended our Project’s year-end party which was held at Elbow Room, Pasig. What an amazing night it was even though we didn't win. Plus, I was smitten as a kitten.

The Big Change

Happy Saturday everyone! I’m in an especially great mood since last week, because – I’ve got some big news.

This is it Pansit! Gah! It’s so exciting!!

I’ll be switching to a different role in a few weeks. I’m very excited about the job, and it feels absolutely right to make the switch. I have been working in EGD FO for years, and what I’m about to enter, will be a completely different journey. New boss, new shift schedule, new colleagues, new work location, new apartment, new project, new client. All new. And, as part of the journey, I’ll need to adjust what I have been doing.

Typhoon Glenda makes landfall in Manila

Fierce wind and heavy rain from Typhoon Glenda has battered the Philippines My heart and prayers go out to fellow Filipinos, but I know that the strength, courage, perseverance, and resilience of them will again allow them to recover from yet another tragedy.

Since we could not go home, the Management booked us a hotel room just a few blocks from our office. No excuses for not going to work the following day. Grabe din! But overall, I'm very thankful we only got wet trying to get into the hotel and our loved ones and families are safe back home.

Isdaan Floating Resto-Fun Park

I was impressed with the exterior. It is so breathtaking- it gives me that Thailand feel (yes I’ve never been to Thailand). The restaurant is undeniably beautiful and the ambience is great. The staffs were very attentive and professional and provided excellent service. However,  I was not very happy with our meal. Dishes I tasted were not as bad as that, but at the end of the day there was nothing special about them.
